Landis+Gyr at DISTRIBUTECH 2026: Building the Future of Intelligent Energy
The Landis+Gyr booth at DISTRIBUTECH 2026 transformed the show floor into an immersive vision of connected energy infrastructure. Designed and built by Star Inc., the environment combined residential-inspired architecture, large-scale illuminated branding, integrated product storytelling, and experiential technology zones to demonstrate how intelligent energy solutions impact everyday life.
Rather than presenting utility technology as abstract infrastructure, the exhibit created a tangible experience centered around homes, communities, sustainability, and modern energy management. Every architectural detail was designed to reinforce Landis+Gyr’s leadership in smart grid innovation while encouraging exploration and conversation throughout the space.
The Challenge
Landis+Gyr needed an exhibit environment capable of showcasing multiple product categories while maintaining a cohesive visitor experience inside one of the utility industry’s largest and most competitive trade shows.
The booth needed to accomplish several goals simultaneously:
- Increase brand visibility across the massive DISTRIBUTECH show floor
- Create approachable storytelling around complex energy systems
- Support product demonstrations and technical conversations
- Encourage attendee movement throughout the exhibit
- Reflect innovation, sustainability, and trust through architecture
The challenge was not simply displaying technology. The challenge was making advanced energy infrastructure feel human, relevant, and experiential.
The Solution
Star Inc. designed an open-concept exhibit that blended modern architectural forms with immersive technology storytelling.
-
Residential-Inspired Technology Structures: Custom house-shaped structures created an immediate connection between smart utility technology and real-world energy use. These architectural elements transformed the booth into a walkable neighborhood of intelligent infrastructure solutions.
-
Large-Scale Hanging Branding System: An illuminated suspended sign system established visibility from long distances across the exhibit hall while anchoring the booth visually from every angle.
-
Integrated Smart Energy Storytelling: Digital displays, smart gas demonstrations, connected grid messaging, and interactive presentation zones helped attendees understand how Landis+Gyr solutions support intelligent energy management and sustainability initiatives.
-
Experiential Open Layout: Wide walkways, lounge seating, café tables, and collaborative meeting spaces encouraged attendees to move naturally through the environment while creating opportunities for meaningful conversations.
-
Material Contrast and Environmental Warmth: Concrete textures, wood slat detailing, greenery walls, integrated lighting, and dark architectural framing balanced industrial sophistication with warmth and accessibility.
- Immersive Lighting and Motion Elements: Suspended illuminated cable-inspired design features introduced movement and energy into the environment while reinforcing the idea of connected infrastructure and power distribution
Why It Worked
The booth succeeded because it translated technical innovation into physical experience.
Instead of overwhelming attendees with specifications and dense technical messaging, the exhibit focused on creating environments people could emotionally and visually connect with. The residential structures helped visitors understand how intelligent energy systems influence everyday life, while the open floor plan encouraged deeper engagement across multiple technology categories.
The result was an exhibit that felt both technologically advanced and remarkably approachable.
Landis+Gyr did not simply display products at DISTRIBUTECH 2026. They demonstrated a connected vision for the future of energy.
Design Takeaway
The strongest trade show environments do more than communicate information. They create context.
By combining architecture, storytelling, lighting, and interaction, the Landis+Gyr exhibit turned complex utility infrastructure into an experience attendees could physically walk through, understand, and remember.
That is where intelligent exhibit design becomes powerful.
